(Posted only -- no image processing) Launipoko is a popular surfing spot for all levels from beginners to expert. It is also a popular spot for the latest fad in surfing -- stand up paddling. It is not an ideal place for photography, however, as the break is so far out even a 600mm (200mm times 2x teleextender times 1.6 sensor magnification) cannot full frame the surfers. Additionally, Launipoko faces west so as the afternoon progresses it becomes harder and harder to hold any detail and by 3 pm or 4pm the surfers are totally silhouetted.
